Shakisha Lawson, FNP-C

Shakisha Lawson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Thrive Family Practice in Land O’Lakes, Florida. Shakisha and the team offer inclusive health care for you and your whole family.

Shakisha Lawson was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. She served in the United States Army (Active Duty) for nine years and completed three overseas tours. After the military, she pursued her bachelor’s degree in nursing at South University and received her Registered Nurse (RN) certification. Following her undergraduate studies, she earned her master’s degree in nursing from South University and received her Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification. She is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at the University of Massachusetts Global (UMASS Global). 

Shakisha takes pride in helping others and has a passion for caring. Her motto is, “Nursing is not just my profession; it is who I am. I am a nurturer by nature.” She has a special passion for helping underserved populations, including veterans, LGBTQ communities, low-income families, and others who lack access to quality health care due to circumstances such as the economy, politics, racism, and social injustice. As a provider at Thrive Family Practice, Shakisha hopes to create a comfortable atmosphere and trusting relationships where all patients, regardless of race, sexuality, and social determinants, can receive quality healthcare and have a better quality of life. 

As a mother, Shakisha enjoys spending time with her two children, David and Diamyn, and traveling the world with her Fiancé, Arando. They enjoy taking trips, volunteering, exercising, and going to church together.
